Big Eddy and Half Mile projects
There is deep value in recreational and environmental attributes of the Petawawa River. Meanwhile corporate motivation is profit for shareholders. Profiteering from natural resources irks the public because cost benefit equations value the recreational value of the resource at ZERO We need a responsible approach to reducing reliance on costly, nonrenewable energy sources but we also need a long term return to the people of Ontario. We may have to forgo taxes and royalties that can exceed over $5 million per MW. We must resist a decision that can have impacts due to project life expectancy of over 80 to 100 years and then be rebuilt. The project will cause some changes, optimizing some which will have negative effects on habitat. Equal consideration must be given to the environmental, social and economic needs which have absolutely no dollar value attached to them.
Xeneca wants a facility that is both visually and environmentally profitable. Is it possible?
Probably not.

A collection of Links Concerning the Xeneca Petawawa Run of the River Project
"In summary, Xeneca intends to build a facility that is low impact both visually and environmentally. Furthermore, it is our intention to bring on line locally generated and consumed renewable energy that provides a financial return to the people of Petawawa, the Province of Ontario as well to our investors."
