Getting Senators to Listen in the House of Sober Second Thought

We are at a critical stage right now...

PLEASE, take a few moments and write a personal letter (see specific details and
instructions below) appealing to members of the Senate, asking them to urge the government to remove the proposed amendments to the Navigable Waters Protection Act from Bill C-10 (the budget implementation act) so that proper consultation can be done with the public, commercial interests, and with First Nations.

PLEASE, make your appeal as personal and detailed as possible.

Send your appeal to all members of the Senate. If you have time, you can also draft more specific appeals for members of the Senate standing committees listed below:

- Speak about the value of the public right of navigation and how its removal will impact you.

- Address any issues that concern you, economic or commercial impacts, heritage values, environmental impacts, democratic principles, the duty to consult, the public trust in government to protect the rights of citizens.

2) If you represent a GROUP or ORGANIZATION or COMMERCIAL INTEREST:

- Write an appeal to the members of the Senate, introduce your organization, express your concerns about the NWPA amendments proposed in C-10 and formally request a hearing to speak in defense of the ancient public right of navigation in Canada.
