Our position is no diversion - rather power development within environmentally sensitive boundaries on the river itself.
We have immediate opposition from:
1. The local Algonquin bands - they want their Innergex project to proceed
2. Hydro Quebec - they want their Tabaret project to proceed
3. MRC Temiskaming - they want money from a project either way
4. The Township of Laniel's mayor has been tasked with trying to makeTabaret proceed
We don't know what the Government of Quebec (there's no word from them) want except to optimize water rights, while keeping in power without causing a real political stir. Inaction seems to be preferred to alienating one interest group or another.
How do we move forward from here? We have no money to pay for technical consultations in order to realistically propose an alternatives.
We need to have all the players together and have all the cards on the table. We could propose that all the competing interests get together to discuss the future of the Kipawa?
